Designed in 1984, Ragno was the first monolithic glass table in design history. Formed from a single sheet of curved glass, its continuous surface flows seamlessly into four sculptural legs, transforming glass from a transparent surface into the entire structure of the table.
Almost absent to the eye yet unmistakable in form, Ragno challenged what glass could be asked to do. Selected by ADI for the XIV Compasso d'Oro and now represented in design museums, it remains one of FIAM Italia's defining designs.

Vittorio Livi
Founder of FIAM Italia and a lifelong explorer of glass, Vittorio Livi set out to challenge the way the material was perceived. Where others saw something cold and fragile, he saw beauty, versatility and poetry — and the possibility of making glass a protagonist within the home. Ragno became one of the purest expressions of that thinking. Created in 1984 from a single sheet of curved glass, it transformed surface and structure into one continuous form, pushing both the material and the technology behind it into entirely new territory.
