Cini Boeri approached the Ghost armchair with scepticism. “I would never have thought of making a glass armchair,” she recalled. But an idea that initially seemed unreal became a challenge: could it actually be made, and could FIAM make it? That curiosity led to two years of experimentation, resulting in an almost invisible sculpture one could inhabit. Formed entirely from glass, Ghost appears to have presence and absence at once — an extraordinary expression of Boeri’s desire to create an armchair that would almost disappear.
