Tara Dining Table by Flexform
Made in Italy
Designed by Sebastian Herkner for Flexform
Monumental yet expressive, the Tara family of tables and coffee tables asserts its presence with quiet authority. Its name draws inspiration from a place sacred to the ancient Irish royal dynasty.
The concrete base is formed from two specular elements that ensure stability. The tonal nuances of the concrete and the concave curves of the base create beauty honed to perfection. Concrete enters into dialogue with the lightness of back-painted glass. In this balance between mineral density and luminous transparency, the Tara table becomes a sculptural presence that brings order and harmony to the space.

Sebastian Herkner
For the Tara Dining Table by Flexform, Sebastian Herkner explores the expressive possibilities of concrete, transforming a material associated with weight and permanence into a sculptural form of unexpected lightness. The monolithic base, composed of two mirrored elements, combines architectural strength with softly curved, tactile surfaces, reflecting his ability to bring contrasting qualities into balance. Born in 1981, Sebastian Herkner studied Product Design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design in Germany before establishing his own studio in 2006. His work spans furniture, lighting and accessories, with collaborations across many internationally recognised design brands. Known for his sensitive approach to materials, form and colour, Herkner combines contemporary design with an appreciation for traditional techniques and skilled making. His work has received numerous international awards, including the Elle Decoration International Design Award, and he was named Maison&Objet Designer of the Year in 2019. His designs are also represented in major museum collections, including the Vitra Design Museum and Die Neue Sammlung in Munich.
