ABC Chair by Flexform
Made in Italy
Designed by Antonio Citterio for Flexform
Conspicuous use of black leather and its tubular metal structure clearly tie the concept for the A.B.C. armchair to the design language of the Modern Movement. Yet, the low seat, that allows the upholstered pieces to fit perfectly within the tubular metal structure, is utterly contemporary. The metal structure is available in an array of finishings. The A.B.C. armchair can be paired with its namesake ottoman-footstool and is equipped with a state-of-the-art mechanism for reclining the seat back. The completely removable upholstery can be crafted in all the fabrics and leathers from the exclusive Flexform collection. A version of the A.B.C. armchair with armrests upholstered in cowhide is also available.
Available in sofas, armchairs, and ottomans
Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio is one of Italy’s most influential architects and designers, with a career spanning architecture, interiors and industrial design. Internationally recognised and the recipient of prestigious design honours including the ADI Compasso d’Oro, his longstanding collaboration with Flexform has produced some of the brand’s most recognisable and enduring designs. “I have never separated architecture from interiors, nor interiors from product design; to me, the designer and the architect are simply two expressions of the same practice.” A.B.C. is a compelling expression of that philosophy. Rather than simply revisiting the language of modernism, Citterio considered the chair as part of a larger architectural whole — respecting its design history while reconsidering how it could belong within contemporary life.
